LOLER 98 (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Legislation 1998) In general terms, the regulations require that equipment provided for use at work is:

  • Strong and stable enough for the particular use and marked to indicate safe working loads;
  • Positioned and installed to minimise any risks;
  • Used safely, eg the work is planned, organised and performed by competent people; subject to on going thorough examination and where appropriate inspected by competent people.
  • Just like an MOT for a car a Thorough Examination is not part of the service or maintenance process. It must be carried out and reported on separately from routine maintenance.

Carryduff Forklift can carry out Thorough Examinations in accordance with a scheme arranged and overseen by Consolidated Fork Truck Services (CFTS) we are also a member of the Fork Lift Truck Association (FLTA).
